Description : Eight figures of mixed description, the bottom almost-central figure has very long legs and holds a short stick, another two hold sticks and another figure immediately to the left of the central figure has an animal head and holds a spear and a stick. There are a variety of animals pictured: two large central bovids, three small antelope (two appear seated), four baboons and a leaping predator, resembling a lion(ess). Two objects resembling bags or pouches appear in the bottom left corner of the painting. "Rocks on the Storm Berg at Buffels Vontein – one of the heads of the Holze Spruit. 13th April 1868. G.W.S."
