Description : Six horned and eared figures of mixed description (four appear to have antelope heads): three bear weapons (stick, quiver, arrows) and one appears to be lying down. A rhinoceros. An oval shape or marking in the right hand side of the painting. "Rocks on the Farm Karee Fontein near Caledon River Dist. LadyBrand O.F.S." [Two joined halves.]

Description in published source : LADYBRAND DISTRICT “PLATE 63 The district, which lies to the north-east of Wepener, is divided from Basutoland by the Caledon River. The country is similar to that in Wepener and Zastron. LOCALITY.– Rocks on the farm Kareefontein on the Caledon River, Ladybrand district. SITE. – Not found. There is no longer any farm of this name in the district. EXPLANATION.– A rhinoceros hunt. The hunters are wearing hartebeests’ heads, a custom explained under Plate 21. The petticoats may be part of the hides worn with the heads. (see Plates 50 and 71.) Dimensions: 18 x 35 inches.” (Bleek)
